The 1988 Olympic Finn gold medalist, José Luis Doreste, from Spain, has won the 2018 Finn World Masters at El Balís, Spain after the holding on to his narrow points lead on the final day. Antonio Poncell, from Chile, sailed the best day to take second, while Giacomo Giovanelli, from Italy did just enough for third.

The fourth day at the 2018 Finn World Masters at El Balís ended with no more racing taking place, the third day lost, in a week of uncharacteristically light winds. The championship concludes on Friday with just one more race needed to make the championship valid.

After three days without wind, the 2018 Finn World Masters finally got underway on Wednesday with three glamour races at El Balís. The 350 boat fleet, split into four groups, each sailed three races in a sea breeze that built from 7-12 knots during the day. The 1988 Olympic champion, José Luis Doreste, from Spain, leads the 350 boat fleet from Giacomo Giovanelli, from Italy, and Aleksander Kulyukin, from Russia.

For the second day in a row, lack of wind precluded any racing taking place at the 2018 Finn World Masters at El Balís. The day started cloudy and after a light sea breeze became established early afternoon, hopes were raised, but it did not develope as expected and racing was abandoned for the day before 17.00.
